What “Living Words” will your life speak?
““Moses himself told the people of Israel, ‘God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among your own people.’ Moses was with our ancestors, the assembly of God’s people in the wilderness, when the angel spoke to him at Mount Sinai. And there Moses received life-giving words to pass on to us.” ~ Acts of the Apostles 7:37-38 NLT
Moses had a powerful encounter with God (several) on Mount Sinai and received “life-giving words” to be passed down through the generations that have now reached us. The NIV calls them “living words” that are still animated today through the Holy Spirit in the lives of all who trust Christ.
Will we have life-giving words to pass down to the generations that follow us? No, God will not use us to record the law and the 10 commandments like he did Moses, but might he speak through our lives in such a way as to stir faith and inspire obedience in the great, great grandchildren we will never meet?
I pray that for all of us. For this to happen we need to follow Moses’ example of climbing the mountain to meet with God, listening carefully to whatever God may say, and writing the message down in an enduring and accessible form (stone tablets?) so those who follow us can experience those life-giving words for themselves.
