What matters most to you as we begin 2025?

Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back. ~ Philippians 3:13 (The Message)

It’s a brand-new year! As you think about all that lies before you and your family in 2025, what feels most important to you? Chances are good it’s within one or more of these categories:

  • Spiritual growth and health

  • Relational growth and health

  • Physical growth and health

  • Intellectual growth and health

  • Financial growth and health

Can you identify 3 things that you want to be especially prayerful about in 2025? Here’s what my list looks like today:

  1. Make a decision on my Bible reading plan for 2025 and who I will ask to join me. (Spiritual)

  2. Invest well in new friendships at our church and in our family - grandbaby #3 is due on January 17th! (Relational)

  3. Pursue additional training in Family Wealth Advising. (Intellectual/Financial)

Like Paul, do you and I have our “eye on the goal”? And remember the goal Paul talked about had two important characteristics:

  • It’s where God is beckoning us onward.

  • It ultimately leads not to a destination, but to a Person – whose name is Jesus.

So, as you think about your goals and desires for this year, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Is God beckoning me toward this? Do I feel the tug of the Holy Spirit?

  2. Will this lead me closer to Jesus? Will this distract me from Jesus? Will this pull me away from Jesus?

  3. Do I feel ready to go for it? Am I fully committed? If not, what’s holding me back?

Be sure to share what you believe God is beckoning you toward with someone else this week. And without a doubt, if God is calling you toward something specific in 2025, he isn’t asking you to make the journey alone! So, share this edition of “Monday Manna” (what I am calling this devotional in 2025) with that person and then follow it up with a phone call or cup of coffee this week.
